Cameron’s award-winning essay, chosen from among 15 applicants, described how his experience at Center helped to shape his further education, writing “As I go off to college in the fall, it is from my early years in elementary school, Center School, that I proceed with confidence, time management skills and most importantly, to be kind to other and try to always smile. ” Cameron received a $500 scholarship and plans to attend the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, this fall. The scholarship was established at the suggestion of Center staff member Kim Hill, as the first students to attend Center as kindergartners since it was re-opened in 1999 are now seniors in high school.
